Vision Council revises 2018 ANSI standards
The Vision Council, the ANSI ASC Z80 secretariat, announced the revision of Z80 standards for nonprescription sunglasses and fashion eye wear.
According to a press release from The Vision Council, national standards in the ophthalmic optics fields are exclusively developed by ASC Z80, the only American National Standards Institute-accredited entity.
Revisions clarifying the testing of photosensitive lenses were included in the 2018 standards. It also developed this standards requirement to be more consistent with international standards.
Products that provide protection for selected sports and products covered by other ANSI standards, such as industrial safety eye wear and corrective prescriptions, were excluded from this standard.
