VSP Global launches charitable smart glasses
VSP Global announced the launch of Level smart glasses, with a limited release beginning in March.
Level smart glasses feature activity tracking technology that can pair to an app on the wearer’s phone and awards points for reaching daily step goals. In conjunction with VSP Global’s Eyes of Hope initiative, the points can be used to donate comprehensive eye exams and eye wear to a person in need, according a press release from VSP.
Located inside the left temple of the frame, the Level technology tracks steps, distance, burned calories and total activity time. There are three unisex frame styles available in black, tortoise, grey and grey tortoise.
“We're thrilled to bring Level smart glasses to market and offer our members an opportunity to apply their vision care benefits toward the purchase of a meaningful wearable device," Kate Renwick-Espinosa, president of VSP Vision Care, said in the release.
"As an optometrist, I'm excited about the rise of wearable technology and to serve as a resource for patients who are interested in smart glasses," Matthew Alpert, OD, VSP Global board member and network doctor, said in the release. "Level incorporates technology into eye wear in an accessible and meaningful way.”
