The Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education announced a new collaboration with the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry’s Council on Optometric Practitioner Education and the American Academy of PAs.

As a result of this change, organizations that are part of the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (JAICE) have the option to include physician assistants (PAs) and optometrists in their education programs without needing to attain separate accreditations with the American Academy of PAs and the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education, according to a press release from the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry.

Jointly accredited organizations requested this expansion in light of their commitment to team-based education. The goal of the expansion is to increase the benefits that jointly accredited organizations already receive from the unified accreditation process and to support their efforts to deliver high-quality, effective interprofessional continuing education that improves team collaboration and patient care, according to the release.
