Vision Council creates retail division, confirms new officers
Industry leaders gathered at The Vision Council’s annual executive summit to discuss the latest in economic trends and business strategies and to celebrate a new division launch.
Optical retailers from across the industry celebrated the launch of the organization’s Optical Retail Division, according to the press release from The Vision Council.
“As the industry has evolved, so has the relationship between retail and wholesale,” according to Mike Hundert, chairman of The Vision Council’s board of directors and CEO of De Rigo Rem, in the release. “The Optical Retail Division will enable The Vision Council and its members to stay at the forefront of how consumers experience and purchase optical products, and further our ability to empower better lives through better vision.”
More than 35 representatives from 16 different retailers attended the summit.
The organization will engage with leaders in optical retail in the development of programs and services and is in the process of recruiting an optical retail division liaison to further these relationships and best meet the needs of the newly announced division, according to the release.

The Vision Council’s officers were confirmed for a second 1-year term during the summit’s business meeting:
Confirmed for a second 2-year term as directors at large were: Ray Khalil of Lafont USA, Don Oakley of VSP Optics Group and Catherine Rauscher of Transitions Optical.
Rebecca Geifer of Modo Eyewear was confirmed for an initial 2-year term as director at large.
