Alcon released data indicating that 92% of patients “feel comfortable” and 81% feel “less dry” at the end of the day while wearing Dailies Total1 Multifocal contact lenses.

The survey followed 534 patients, 45 years old and older, with presbyopia in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand before they were fit and after 1 to 2 weeks of wear with Dailies Total1 Multifocal contact lenses.

Eye care providers and patients each completed surveys before and after patients were fit with the lenses, indicating their experiences with the lenses in terms of comfort, vision and ease of fitting.

Patients had, on average, 3 more hours of comfortable wear with Dailies Total1 Multifocal lenses than their habitual lenses, according to the release. Only 27% of the patients reported their habitual lenses were comfortable at the end of the day.

The majority of patients, at 86%, preferred water gradient Dailies Total1 Multifocal contact lenses over their previous multifocal lenses.

A total of 100% of U.S. eye care providers who participated reported that Dailies Total1 Multifocal contact lenses are easy and efficient to fit and would recommend them to colleagues.

Ninety-two percent of providers would recommend switching to the lenses for their presbyopic patients.
