Plusoptix launches pediatric vision screening device

Plusoptix has launched a vision screening device specifically for use in pediatric clinics.

The device, Plusoptix S16, is specifically designed for pediatricians to detect early eye disorders in children, including amblyopia, hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism, anisometropia, anisocoria and strabismus, according to a press release from the company.

The device measures refraction, pupil distance and symmetry of corneal reflexes.

“The launch of the S16 Stationary Vision Screener speaks to our promise to deliver the highest product quality and measurement accuracy possible in easy-to-use solutions for vision screening,” J.C. Firer, CEO of Plusoptix, said in the release. “We are proud to continue our leadership tradition of innovation in an effort to improve early detection of pediatric vision disorders.”

The device can be connected to a network to upload data to electronic health records. In addition, the S16 models comes with a software tool that allows for measurement reports to be printed.
