Louise Sclafani, OD, FAAO, is joining SynergEyes as the vice president of professional affairs, according to a company press release.

In this position Sclafani will be responsible for working with eye care professionals to increase the company’s value within optometry.

“The addition of Dr. Sclafani to our team comes at a pivotal point for SynergEyes as we add gas permeable technology to our hybrid contact lens portfolio,” James K. Kirchner, OD, president and CEO of SynergEyes said in the release. “She is one of the most knowledgeable and well-respected educators and practitioners in the field of optometry today. We look forward to having Dr. Sclafani bring her vast knowledge and expertise to our growing company, helping us to enable independent eye care professionals to differentiate their practices through the use of specialty contact lenses.”

Sclafani was previously an associate professor of ophthalmology and director of optometric services at the University of Chicago.
