The Optometric Glaucoma Society announced that it is launching the Optometric Glaucoma Foundation to support education for optometrists.

The newly formed foundation will support educational programs aimed at excellence in care, in addition to promoting glaucoma research, according to an announcement from the group.

The society’s mission is to promote excellence in the care of glaucoma patients through professional education and scientific investigation.

The foundation will be led by Murray Fingeret, OD, FAAO, chief of the optometry section of the Brooklyn/St. Albans Campus, department of Veterans Administration, in the New York Harbor Health Care System; clinical professor at the College of Optometry, State University of New York; and a member of the Primary Care Optometry News Editorial Board.
