CooperVision is seeking proposals for its Science & Technology Awards Program.

In its fifth year, the program is seeking research proposals on visual fatigue, strategies to improve ocular surface and contact lens comfort, or technologies to improve functionality of contact lens beyond vision correction, the company said in a press release.

The program consists of two types of awards: The Seedling award, which promotes collaboration with CooperVision in a new research area to gain preliminary data, and the Translational Research award, which appeals to milestone-driven, multiyear research.

“The contact lens advancements underpinning CooperVision’s outstanding product portfolio are the result of both our own and external technologies,” Arthur Back, BOptom, PhD, FAAO, chief technology officer at CooperVision, said in the release. “We are constantly looking for the next innovation to accelerate the discovery of new technology. Those innovative ideas born from past S&T Awards have already transformed our approach to helping improve the way people see each day. We are excited to see this year’s proposals and partner with these new scientists to work toward bringing their concepts to life.”

Letters of intent must be submitted by May 26, and full proposals are due Aug. 25.
