MacuHealth and its CEO, Frederic Jouhet, have filed a lawsuit against Medop Health, the manufacturer of MaxiVision Meso Plus Formula, citing false advertising and faulty manufacturing in relation to that product, according to a press release from MacuHealth.

The complaint alleges that there are “misleading representations of facts and characteristics ... to customers” in the MaxiVision Meso Plus Formula, “unfair competition” and a violation of the Consumer Protection Act, according to the release from MacuHealth.

Medop Health advertises that the product in question has a 10-10-2 formula (10 mg lutein, 10 mg mesozeaxanthin and 2 mg zeaxanthin), but MacuHealth claims that an independent analysis shows a lesser concentration, and that after a few months further deterioration was seen, according to the MacuHealth press release.

MacuHealth is being represented by Glenn Forbis of Harness Dickey & Pierce PLC, of Michigan.
