ATLANTA – Visioneering Technologies announced the launch of NaturalVue Sphere 1-day contact lenses in a full power range in 0.25-D steps.

NaturalVue Sphere Contact Lenses (etafilcon A) are available from +4.00 D to -12.00 D in 0.25-D steps, Sally M. Dillehay, OD, chief medical officer, vice president of regulatory and clinical affairs, said at a press conference during SECO.

“Our true north is to redefine vision by producing clear vision for as many people as possible,” Dillehay said.

NaturalVue Sphere 1-day lenses feature ComfortEdge Technology, which helps promote tear exchange designed to keep the lenses clean, clear and comfortable throughout the day, she said.

“A full power range with 0.25-D steps will help practitioners fit a broader patient range, which is particularly beneficial to high myopes where a quarter diopter makes a huge difference,” Dillehay continued.

“One of the things that I really like about this lens is the potential for increasing patients’ clarity; the bottom line is people want to see better when they leave our office,” she added.

The comfort of the lens is immediately recognized, Douglas P. Benoit, OD, FAAO, an early adopter of the lenses, said at the press conference.

“I’ve heard patients say it’s the most comfortable lens they’ve worn,” he said.

“We target plus or minus an eighth of a diopter,” Dillehay said. “I wouldn’t accept compromise in my vision, and I wouldn’t provide it to my patients.”

Visioneering will also be launching up to +6 D in 0.25-D steps in the near future, she added.

Dillehay said the company sells its lenses to independent eye care practitioners who provide direct patient care.

“It’s when the doctor isn’t involved in the care of the patient that things can go wrong,” she said. “We are supporting our practitioners to enhance the safety and integrity for our patients.”

The NaturalVue brand family includes NaturalVue Multifocal and NaturalVue Sphere. The company has plans to introduce NaturalVue Toric and NaturalVue Multifocal Toric Contact Lenses. – by Abigail Sutton
