SEED, BHVI partner on new contact lens technology

The Brien Holden Vision Institute will collaborate on research and development of new contact lens technologies with Japan’s SEED Co., Ltd. to deliver advanced vision correction for older patients.

The opportunity to collaborate with one of Asia’s leading contact lens companies with a fast-growing global presence will help take the institute’s technology global, according to Kovin Naidoo, OD, MPH, PhD, FAAO, CEO of Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI), in a press release from the group.

“The corporate mission of SEED is ‘Support your vision,’ therefore, SEED commits to developing and distributing good quality contact lenses to accommodate the diverse vision correction and lifestyle requirements of patients,” SEED President and CEO Masahiro Urakabe said in the release.
The start of this new collaboration is a very exciting opportunity to deliver the next generation of contact lenses.”

SEED is a TSE-listed comprehensive contact lens manufacturer in Japan with 60 years of history. SEED produces and delivers a wide range of contact lens products including gas-permeable lenses, soft conventional lenses and a number of disposable contact lenses. Its production capacity of daily disposable contact lens is currently 32.5 million pieces per month in its factory located in Japan, according to the release.
