BOSTON – Patient selection is critical for the KAMRA inlay (AcuFocus), Jeff Augustine, OD, said here at Optometry’s Meeting. Augustine has comanaged 115 inlay patients over the past year, and he cautioned ODs about assessing the patient for dry eye.

He also noted that the inlay is placed in the nondominant eye, but is not considered monovision. “The patient’s visual acuity at distance is maintained,” he said. “The depth of focus at near point is maintained and has a distinct advantage over monovision.”
