CenterVue announced 510(k) clearance for its fixation training for the MAIA platform, a technology designed to help patients rehabilitate from vision loss using audio feedback, according to a company press release.

The MAIA Microperimeter assesses visual function and fixation stability.

During the test, a projected stimulus is moved to a different position, and an auditory tone signals to the patient that stable vision has been achieved. Patients learn to reposition his or her eye to achieve improved fixation stability through repeated test and response using the auditory signals, according to the release.
This designation permits CenterVue to begin clinical trials and to continue technology development.
