Bausch + Lomb announced its plans to launch Ultra for Presbyopia in the second quarter of 2016.

The company said in a press release that this monthly replacement multifocal contact lens combines the three-zone progressive design found in its Biotrue OneDay for Presbyopia daily disposable contact lenses with the same end-of-day comfort of its Ultra contacts with MoistureSeal technology.

The new Ultra multifocals contain polyvinylpyrrolidone to enhance wettability, have a high Dk/t of 163 and a low modulus of 70, Bausch + Lomb said. Its aspheric optics provide good vision even in low light.

“The upcoming launch of Bausch + Lomb Ultra for Presbyopia is just one example of product advancements we look forward to delivering to our customers and their patients in 2016 as we continue to build upon the 15+ innovations that we’ve brought to market since 2012,” Bausch + Lomb chief medical officer, Cal Roberts, MD, said in the release.
