LAS VEGAS – Costa announced the relaunch of its Rx lab program with the addition and expansion of several new lens technologies, in a press conference here at Vision Expo West.

Costa’s C-Scape Bifocal offers a backside round segment with Waypoint digital compensation, according to the company.

Costa director of Rx sales, Renato Cappuccitti, told Primary Care Optometry News that the C-Scape’s Bifocal is ground on the back of the lens, reducing imaging jump, with no noticeable line on the front surface. Designed for wrap sunglasses, it is available in 580P and 400P.

The company also announced that the Varilux Stylistic design progressive lens is now customized with Costa’s 580 technology. Cappuccitti said that this design was intended for wrap sunglasses, and wearers will have a larger reading zone.

Cappuccitti noted that the 580 polarized lens not only absorbs 100% of UV light, but also 100% of high-energy visible blue light to 425 nm.

The company reported that polycarbonate is also now available for its 580P and 400P Rx family of lenses, in addition to the previously available Trivex and CR39.

Costa also rolled out its first rimless Rx styles, which are available in either polycarbonate 580 and 400 as well as Trivex 580. A range of colors includes mirrored styles. – by Nancy Hemphill, ELS, FAAO
