ASCO honors Alfred A. Rosenbloom Jr.

The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry announced its 2015 Special Recognition Awards during the organization’s annual meeting in Seattle, according to a press release.

ASCO awarded the late Alfred A. Rosenbloom, Jr., OD, FAAO, a member of the Primary Care Optometry News Editorial Board, its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rosenbloom's wife, Sarah, accepted the award, which honors those who have "provided exceptional leadership to ASCO and to optometric education; made outstanding contributions to the optometric community and displayed exemplary commitment and dedication to the association."

She said: “I am honored to accept this award on his behalf and know Al would truly appreciate it."

Additionally, ASCO recognized Todd Peabody, OD, MBA, FAAO, with the Rising Star Award; Mark Colip, OD, with the Dr. Jack Bennett Innovation in Optometric Education Award; Dave Sattler with the Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award; student Molly Spatcher with the Student Award in Critical Ethics; and Denise Goodwin, OD, FAAO; John R. Hayes, PhD; and Len Koh, PhD, OD, with the Dr. Lester Janoff Award for Writing Excellence.
