Art Optical has added a contact lens to its portfolio designed for overnight orthokeratology and the management of myopia, the company announced in a recent press release.

DreamLens, which utilizes a "four-zone reverse geometry design," has been approved by the FDA as an option for the Bausch + Lomb Vision Shaping Treatment (VST) process, according to the release.

A proprietary software program included with the DreamLens VST process analyzes data that can help expedite the fitting and ordering of lenses.

“For nearsighted kids and teens, the benefits of overnight corneal reshaping can’t be overlooked,” Mike Johnson, FCLSA, director of consultation services for Art Optical, said in the release. “It’s a safe, effective, reversible option that can truly improve the patient’s quality of life,” he continued. “All eye care practitioners should be aware of methods to manage myopia, and DreamLens is an excellent option for this purpose.”

Art Optical noted in the release that training and certification for the DreamLens are required in order to prescribe the treatment.
