JJVC launches contact lenses that accentuate eye color

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care introduced 1-Day Acuvue Define contact lenses designed to accentuate the natural eye color while improving vision.

Made with Lacreon technology, the contacts feature an outer darker limbal ring to increase eye definition by creating contrast between the iris and sclera and an inner translucent light-effects pattern, which adds depth without changing the eye’s natural color, according to a company press release.

JJVC independent research showed that people are more attracted to women and men with pronounced limbal rings, as limbal rings are associated with a healthy and youthful appearance.

The Acuvue Define brand will be available in plano and vision correction ranges from +1 D to -9 D with a base curve of 8.5 and diameter of 14.2 mm. Three styles will be available to complement eye colors: natural shimmer, natural sparkle and natural shine.

The brand is already available in Asia, according to JJVC, and is now available at a limited number of independent U.S. eye doctors’ offices. An expanded product launch in the U.S. will take place in the first half of 2015.
