Vitamin Science Inc. announced in a press release the availability of the eye health supplement, Dry Eye Relief TG-1000.
According to Paul Krawitz, MD, president and founder of VisiVite parent company, Vitamin Science, the original dry eye supplement has been improved with higher levels of the triglyceride form of omega-3 fatty acids.
“Highly bioavailable, Dry Eye Relief TG-1000 encourages peak delivery of omega-3s to the eyes' lacrimal glands, where they soothe inflammation while promoting healthier tear production,” according to a company press release.
The formula includes nutrition for all three tear film layers of the eye, the mucous, aqueous and lipid layers, according to the press release.
The company’s original Dry Eye Relief Tear Film Stabilization Formula supplied “phytosterols as a ‘vapor barrier’ to block moisture evaporation from the outer layer, mucins to optimize the interior layer and help tears adhere to the outer layer, and polar phospholipids that thread through all layers and bind them together for better stability,” the press release stated.
“Dry Eye Relief TG-1000 takes a proven formula and makes it even more effective,” Krawitz said in the release.
The omega-3s were upgraded with the high-potency triglyceride form of purified fish oil, flaxseed oil and safflower oil, he continued. The COX-2 inhibitor, curcumin C3 complex, was also added to modulate inflammation without gastrointestinal side effects, Krawitz said.
