SynergEyes announced that it has raised $12 million to accelerate expansion of its contact lenses for patients with astigmatism, presbyopia and irregular corneas.

The company said the funding will facilitate SynergEyes’ strategic acquisitions into specialty contact lenses.

“As the contact lens industry increasingly focuses on commodity products, SynergEyes stands out by offering technological innovations that help independent eye care professionals differentiate their practices,” Jim Kirchner, OD, SynergEyes president and CEO, said in a company press release. “This significant round of funding provides us with additional resources to develop new products and seek new partners while maintaining our position as a company focused on innovative contact lens technology.”
