Transitions Optical: CEO Elias retires, McDermott replaces Cole as president
In the wake of Essilor International completing its acquisition of Transitions Optical from PPG Industries Inc., Transitions announced changes to several top leadership positions.
According to a press release from Transitions, Richard C. Elias has retired, Dave Cole has been promoted to vice president for PPG, Paddy McDermott was named president of Transitions and Bertrand Roy will lead Transitions business for Essilor.
The release stated that Elias was senior vice president, optical and specialty materials, for PPG Industries and chief executive officer for Transitions. He retired April 1. Cole was president of Transitions Optical and is now vice president of PPG’s packaging coatings segment. McDermott is immediately replacing Cole as president of Transitions. Roy was senior vice president of strategic partnerships for Essilor and will now lead the Transitions business for the Essilor Group.
According to the press release, Elias joined PPG in 1975, Cole has been with Transitions for 24 years, McDermott joined Transitions in 1993, and Roy has been with Essilor for 27 years.
