NEW YORK – Essilor shared its latest news on its nonprofit arm, Essilor Vision Foundation, its continuing education offerings and the company’s direct-to-consumer rebate plan here at a press conference held during Vision Expo East.

Jean-Felix Biosse Duplan, president of the Vision Impact Institute, said that since 2008, the Essilor Vision Foundation has provided 193,000 vision screenings, dispensed 58,000 pairs of glasses and performed more than 65,000 eye exams for youth across the U.S.

“[Our goal is to] help those 2.5 billion children without vision care,” Duplan said.

ECP University offers more than 100 online and in-class courses for continuing education credits. Carl Bracy, executive vice president of marketing and business development, explained that the courses include a dispensary manager program with an executive MBA teaching style, specifically designed to improve business operations of a dispensary.

Employees with no access to learning are about 400% more likely to leave their jobs than those who receive continued education and learning, he said.

Howard Purcell, OD, FAAO, senior vice president of customer development, said the company’s “Power of 3 Event” is a direct-to-consumer rebate program designed to help practices grow by driving customers to independent practitioners and improving consumer recognition of premium brands. – by Abigail Sutton
