ATLANTA – At a press conference here at SECOZeaVision announced that it is offering a complimentary online assessment to help identify visual risks.

The company also told Primary Care Optometry News about the QuantifEye II MPS, a macular pigment measurement instrument that started shipping to customers on March 1.

The new instrument is the second generation and features upgrades that include software advancements. According to ZeaVision, the improvements make the instrument easier to use with a shorter testing time, intuitive user interface, enhanced training module and network connectivity to electronic medical records (EMR).

Chris Barber, president and executive committee member of ZeaVision, told PCON that the QuantifEye MPS II has received positive feedback.

"ZeaVision had a product that would accomplish macular pigment measurement in the past, but this is simplified,” Barber explained. “It tells the doctor or the operator: 'This is an accurate score, accept it' or 'Caution, you might want to retest or reject.' And that's a really important feature.”

The instrument also provides a progress report as the patient is retested every 6 months, Barber said.

“Being able to transfer these reports straight over into the EMR electronically is something doctors really wanted,” he continued.

Barber noted that the technology is now available for purchase or lease. ZeaVision used the QuantifEye MPS II to test doctors and technicians during SECO.
