Macular Health’s Visual Advantage introduced MacuStrip Premier, an oral thin film delivery method designed to help slow vision loss for those with age-related macular degeneration.

The company explained in a press release that the recently released Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 confirmed that the added ingredients and formulation is the most effective of four different formulations tested in the study for slowing or preventing vision loss due to AMD.

The MacuStrip Premier formula includes 125 mg vitamin C (ascorbic acid), 100 IU vitamin E, 55 mg zinc (zinc oxide), 2 mg copper (copper gluconate), 10 mg FloraGlo lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin.

“Our new oral thin film technology will provide maximum delivery of nutrients by using higher concentrations of the active ingredients shown by the AREDS2 study to be most effective [against AMD] by placing them on an easy-to-use oral thin film strip that is applied to the cheek or tongue,” Jeffrey McAnnally, Macular Health president and CEO said in the release.
