M&S Technologies has been awarded a patent for its Glare Testing System, the company announced in a press release.

The Glare Testing System (GTS) is made of four LED lights mounted to the Smart System visual acuity testing system, which can replicate real-life glare conditions, according to the release. The technology helps evaluate patients with vision difficulties due to glare, especially those who experience it while driving at night.

“It is an honor to be awarded another U.S. patent, but, more importantly it further validates our mission to engineer the very best visual acuity testing systems in the industry," Joe Marino, president of M&S Technologies, said in the release. "If eye care professionals can provide the highest-quality care with the aid of our products, then we’ve accomplished our goal.”

The GTS is sold commercially as an addition to the Smart System visual acuity testing system or as-is, where the lights can be mounted to equipment already in an exam room, a company representative told Primary Care Optometry News.

This patent marked the sixth for the software company.
