Troops in the field now have access to digital spectacle lenses made with the Super Systems Fastgrind 2200 system, according to a company press release.

Super Systems reported that the company specially designed cases for the units sold to the U.S. Army so they contain the entire system as well as the necessary tool and lens inventory.

“A portable water recirculation system was also developed to enable the system to operate in remote locations,” the press release stated.

These portable systems, which can create digital quality lenses in 12 minutes, would also work well for global humanitarian purposes, the company said in the release.

The Fastgrind system, which can produce both single vision and progressive-addition lenses, is intended for the small- to medium-size office wishing to reduce lab bills and offer same-day service, the release said.
