AOA now accepting nominations for Paraoptometic of the Year
The American Optometric Association’s Paraoptometric Section is seeking nominations for the Paraoptometric of the Year Award, according to an association press release.
The award is given annually to the optometric assistant or technician who has made outstanding and worthwhile contributions to the profession of optometry, paraoptometry and the general public, the release said.
The nominee’s accomplishments are reviewed in the categories of ‘Service to optometry and paraoptometric associations,’ which includes office competency, service to paraoptometric state, regional and/or national associations, and contributions of personal time and effort; ‘participation in public service activities’; and ‘personal endorsement by the nominating individual,’ according to the release.
State Paraoptometric of the Year award winners are also eligible for the national nomination. Any previously nominated Paraoptometric of the Year nominees who did not win may be nominated again. Nominees must be a member of the American Optometric Association Paraoptometric Section in order to be eligible, the release said.
Nominations must be received on or prior to February 1, 2013.
