VSP introduces iPad app, expands portfolio

LAS VEGAS – VSP Optics Group introduced the iPad app OTTO, one touch to optical, for eye care professionals, which serves as a virtual optical assistant, here at Vision Expo West.

The app can be used by patients to fill out new forms, answer questionnaires, authorize privacy policies and provide insurance information. Eye care professionals can use it to obtain patient authorization and explain benefits, as well as check the status of lab orders and notify patients when orders are complete.

Photos can be taken with the iPad with the OTTObox plug-in to calculate measurements for pupil distance or segment height. The app has access to Marchon and Altair frame catalogs or the FramesData database for more frame choices for patients and can save favorites to a patient’s file. New orders can be created from the app for eye wear, sunglasses and contact lenses.

The app is available for second- and third-generation iPads.

The company also expanded its portfolio of Unity Performance Optics with a digital progressive lens, Unity PLxpression with Cascade Technology, which will launch nationally on Oct. 10. It offers optimized viewing zones through variable base curve technology and thinner, flatter lenses.
