NEW YORK — Eyemaginations launched ECHO, a customizable patient outreach and education tool for optometric practices.

ECHO will allow practitioners to send routine forms, appointment reminders and personalized education to patients, according to company literature.

"This is a tool for the doctor and staff as well as for patients and their families," Smitha Gopal, Eyemaginations vice president of product and strategy, told PRIMARY CARE OPTOMETRY NEWS. Through ECHO, clinicians can customize patient education information, do recalls electronically and reach patients through Facebook and Twitter, Ms. Gopal said.

Eyemaginations 3-D animated videos and other media can be sent via e-mail and social media with ECHO. Practices can send information prior to the appointment such as new patient forms, directions to the office and preoperative instructions. ECHO is complimentary to those who have a LUMA subscription, an existing Eyemaginations software product, Ms. Gopal said.
