Costa launches sun lens program

NEW YORK — Costa Sunglasses announced here at International Vision Expo that its premium polarized 580 technology will now be available in an Rx sun lens format.

According to a company press release, the 580 lens technology blocks yellow light at 580 nm, resulting in good visual clarity, a high level of polarization efficiency and sharp color enhancement.

The 580 Rx sun lens program will use Costa's proprietary Trivex and glass materials in gray or copper and blue, green or silver mirror lens colors, according to a company press release.

The lenses feature C-Wall, a highly specialized, oleophobic and hydrophobic coating to make it as virtually scratch resistant as glass, while repelling water, oil and dust. Other Costa Rx sun lens program options include Costa's 580G Rx in glass and Costa's 400 Rx CR-39 lens technology, the release said.

The company also announced a new ordering process. Instead of placing an Rx order through an optical processing lab, eye care practitioners will be able to contact Costa directly by fax or e-mail, said the release.
