Cooper completes acquisition of Ocular Sciences

LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- The Cooper Companies Inc., parent company of CooperVision, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Ocular Sciences Inc.

At closing, Cooper paid approximately $600 million in cash and issued roughly 10.7 million shares of its common stock to Ocular Sciences stockholders and option holders.

“We firmly believe that the integration of these businesses will help CooperVision better fulfill our promise to provide eye care practitioners with the highest levels of service, as well as product quality, reliability and delivery,” said Greg Fryling, COO of CooperVision, in a press release.

The company has launched a new Web site, www.CooperVisionOSI.com, dedicated to disseminating information about the merger to eye care professionals. The new site also features a special response tool that allows practitioners to submit questions or comments regarding the transition. The existing CooperVision and Ocular Sciences Web sites will also remain operational, the press release stated.
