MADISON, N.J. — Bausch + Lomb is conducting a voluntary recall of a single lot of Murocel methylcellulose lubricant ophthalmic solution, USP 1%, in the interest of patient safety, according to a company press release.

Based on routine stability testing, the single lot did not meet specifications for preservative efficacy. No adverse events have been reported. Potential events may include eye pain, change in vision, irritation/redness of the eye and ocular infection, the release said.

The specific lot number is 507521, with UPC Code 3 24208 28015 7. The expiration date is Jan. 31, 2012.
