Improvements in soft toric contact lenses include new materials, range extensions
Virtually every major contact lens manufacturer has either recently introduced improvements or expansions in their toric soft contact lens product lines or has plans to do so. Manufacturers and clinicians say the new lens models offer improved materials, extended ranges and innovative designs to suit the needs of a larger number of astigmatic patients.

Legislation regulating cosmetic plano contact lenses was reintroduced in Congress last month, according to a press release from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
B&L reports year-end earnings
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bausch & Lomb increased its net sales to $2.23 billion in 2004, up 11% from 2003, the company announced in a press release. The company’s contact lens, pharmaceutical and cataract/vitreoretinal divisions all posted double-digit gains in the fourth quarter as well, the press release stated. Sales in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific geographical regions increased as well, the company said.
