VIDEO: Keep neuro-ophthalmology disease mimics in mind when addressing droopy eyelid
KOLOA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2025, Amina Malik, MD, discusses dangerous disease mimics in neuro-ophthalmology.
“You may think it’s just the eyelid, ptosis or age-related, but it’s always important to have in the back of our mind other things on the differential diagnosis that can lead to droopy eyelid or something more serious,” she said.
Malik noted a number of potential neurological etiologies, such as Bell’s palsy, brain aneurysm or Horner’s syndrome.
