BARCELONA, Spain — In this Healio Video Perspective from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Soosan Jacob, MS, FRCS, DNB, discusses custom-shaped CAIRS for the treatment of keratoconus.

Jacob introduced CAIRS, short for corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments, in 2015, and her latest development is customization. Based on the topography of individual patients, the segments are customized in shape, arc length, thickness and weight.

“We have come to very good results with great nomograms, and we are able to offer good predictability and great results for the patients,” she said.
