BARCELONA, Spain — In this Healio Video Perspective from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Pavel Stodulka, MD, PhD, gives an update on hyperopic SMILE.

Stodulka, a pioneer of the technique, treated more than 100 eyes in a Zeiss clinical study more than 5 years ago.

“Then we waited to get this procedure approved,” he said.

The procedure, which now has a CE mark, is taking off. Several clinicians are performing it, and Stodulka considers it a great addition to the armamentarium of refractive surgeons.

“I highly recommend you consider it for your hyperopic young patients because results are really good and better than our hyperopic LASIK results,” he said.
