BARCELONA, Spain — In this Healio Video Perspective from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Pavel Stodulka, MD, PhD, discusses the Perfect Lens procedure.

The procedure converts a monofocal IOL into a multifocal lens inside a patient’s eye. It uses a green femtosecond laser to change the refractive index of the lens material and can be applied to any current acrylic IOL.

Stodulka presented the results of the first six eyes, which were able to reach J1 or J2 reading vision at 1 month.

“It was a long way before we achieved the first clinical results, but now it has been proven,” he said.

Stodulka described the procedure, which requires about 40 seconds and no medications, and produces no alteration to the tissue.
