BARCELONA, Spain — In this Healio Video Perspective from Presbyopia 2024, held before the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Fritz Hengerer, MD, PhD, discusses the OmniVu modular shape-changing IOL.

The accommodating OmniVu (Atia Vision) design consists of a posterior fluid-filled, shape-changing optic and a fixed-power anterior optic. At the meeting, Hengerer presented 24-month results of the first-in-human study with the IOL.

“Over 24 months, we could see a stable situation in the anterior chamber, in refraction and in accommodation up to 6 D for binocular and monocular implantation,” he said.

In addition, the lens optic could potentially be used as a carrier for drug-eluting devices, Hengerer said.
