CARLSBAD, Calif. — In this Healio Video Perspective from the Women in Ophthalmology Summer Symposium, Shivani Kamat, MD, of UT Southwestern Medical Center in Texas, shares her experiences with in vitro fertilization as a woman in medicine.

“Infertility is highly prevalent in female physicians, and I think it’s really important for us to feel like we have a support group and that we have people out there who know what we’re going through, especially because it can be such an isolating process,” she said.

Kamat’s advice for other women undergoing IVF is to embrace flexibility.

“You have to give up your control, be flexible and realize that some things are just not in your hands,” she said.
