In this Healio Video Perspective, Cynthia Matossian, MD, FACS, and David Evans, PhD, MBA, discuss how to revise or update a practice’s website without affecting its online ranking.

According to Evans, despite common scare tactics used by some marketing companies, redesigning a site or moving a site to another organization will not inherently affect its ranking on Google. This is because the rankings are based not on the website but the URLs.

“If you have a website and you change the URLs like a lot of companies mistakenly do, then you lose all that longevity you have with Google,” he said. “You have to use techniques to make sure you maintain the history of those URLs when you change, and then there will not be an issue.”
