BOSTON — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Robert J. Weinstock, MD, discusses a study on femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.
The study compared cataract surgery with manual phacoemulsification and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery with the Ally adaptive cataract treatment system (Lensar).
“The femtosecond laser group outperformed the manual cataract surgery in this study both in visual outcomes, the capsulotomy, centration in size, location and overlap with the IOL, the amount of surgical time that the case took once inside the eye with less ultrasonic time and less total case time, and less [posterior capsule opacification] formation over time,” Weinstock said.
