FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — In this Healio Video Perspective from the Retina World Congress, Paulo E. Stanga, MD, explains how the Bionic Eye System provides artificial vision for patients with vision loss due to inherited retinal diseases.

According to Stanga, an electrode array, part of the Bionic Eye System from Bionic Vision Technologies, is implanted into the suprachoroidal space without detaching or damaging the retina.

“Patients that have been operated on have achieved success in more easily locating faces, identifying empty chairs and assessing depth perception,” he said.
