SEATTLE — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ARVO meeting, Dolly Shuo-Teh Chang, MD, of Genentech discusses the effect of intraretinal fluid volume reduction on anatomical and visual outcomes in diabetic macular edema.

Chang and colleagues used a deep learning retinal segmentation algorithm to analyze intraretinal and subretinal fluid volumes as well as anatomical outcomes and vision in 887 patients from the phase 3 YOSEMITE and RHINE clinical trials who were treated with faricimab or aflibercept.

“Early drying after one dose of treatment is associated with better vision and anatomical outcomes at 1 year,” Chang said.
