FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — In this Healio Video Perspective from the Retina World Congress, Darius M. Moshfeghi, MD, discusses a retinopathy of prematurity scoring system to screen telemedicine images.

“One [goal] was to develop a framework to take zone, stage and plus, which are the three determinants of treatment intervention when screening for ROP, to come up with a weighted system that would allow us to quantify risk as one is approaching what we call type 1 early treatment retinopathy of prematurity, and instead of having to keep track of all the different components, have one score that would make this accessible for the physicians, ophthalmologists, neonatologists, nursing team and the families at the bedside,” he said.
