SEATTLE — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ARVO meeting, Neda Gioia, OD, CNS, FOWNS, discusses two studies investigating a novel oral supplement from Bausch + Lomb for patients with dry eye disease.

The primary efficacy outcomes of the studies were dry eye severity and tear volume, as measured through Ocular Surface Disease Index score and Schirmer’s test score, respectively. Gioia reported that both studies, one of which was conducted in the U.S. and the other in India, showed similar efficacy results, with statistically significant improvements in disease severity beginning at day 14 and in tear volume as early as day 28.

“The comparison of the clinical studies from the U.S. and the India study of the multi-ingredient oral supplement really complement each other, and having those two studies being in agreement really helps us to go forward with clinical relevance for this new supplement within the eye care community.”
