VIDEO: AI modeling can reduce bias in glaucoma screening
SEATTLE — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ARVO meeting, Mengyu Wang, PhD, discusses vision and language modeling for better glaucoma screening.
Wang and colleagues used scanning laser ophthalmoscopy fundus images and visual fields to explore equity issues in vision and language AI models for glaucoma detection.
“We have demonstrated you can tackle this issue from the modeling side,” he said. “You can embed some novel AI module tackling fairness aspect to reduce model bias.”
