WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Benjamin H. Ticho, MD, discusses the growing prevalence of myopia worldwide and the role that low-dose atropine may play in treating it.

Conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal tears, retinal detachments and retinal myopic degeneration, which are all pathologic complications of myopia, will be some of “the biggest causes of worldwide blindness in the coming decades. So, we’re hoping that low-dose atropine provides some preventative treatment for these patients,” Ticho said.
