VIDEO: ViaLase femtosecond laser trabeculotomy shows promising outcomes

FRANKFURT, Germany — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ESCRS winter meeting, Kevin L. Waltz, OD, MD, speaks about the ViaLase femtosecond laser technology for high-precision trabeculotomy.

The initial cohort of patients has reached 3 years of follow-up, and results are positive, with a stable 30% to 35% reduction in IOP and no significant complications. About 250 patients have been treated worldwide.

“We are very excited about the technology. In the very near future, we anticipate having the technology available in Europe and probably in a year or two in the U.S.,” Waltz said.
