TAMPA, Fla. — In this Healio Video Perspective from Telling It Like It Is, Steven M. Silverstein, MD, FACS, discusses safety data for Dextenza for the treatment of perioperative ocular pain and inflammation and allergic conjunctivitis.

Data collected from the IRIS Registry showed low adverse rates in more than 50,000 patients implanted with Dextenza (dexamethasone ophthalmic insert 0.4 mg, Ocular Therapeutix) that were “nearly identical” compared with results in patients who received topical drop therapy.

“The use of a dexamethasone insert perioperatively or to use in the clinic for postoperative steroid delivery or the use of dexamethasone for allergy relief of signs and symptoms is very, very safe and very easy to do,” Silverstein said. “I encourage you: If you haven’t already, try it. You’ll really, really enjoy this.”
